Program Purpose & Objective
The purpose of the Medical Assisting program, at Pinnacle School of Nursing, supports and assists the implementation of the vision, mission, and goals of the school. We want to provide rich learning experiences and resources that enable students to develop the competencies necessary for the practice of medical assisting. Our goal is to provide various populations of the community with dynamic medical assistants through a diversified program offering: an innovative educational experience, excellence in teaching, leadership, and service to the health care of the community. The program enables the school to achieve their purpose by preparing Medical Assisting students for employment in the area of specialty they wish to serve. The objective of the Medical Assistant program is to provide comprehensive training that will allow graduates to obtain entry-level employment as a Medical Assistant in a variety of clinical settings. The program includes 100-hours of clinical externship where students will obtain hands-on experience in an actual clinical setting such as a doctor’s office, clinic, or ambulatory care setting.
Didactic classes are conducted online with mandatory in-person attendance for exams, lab simulation, demonstration, and skills practice.
Program Length
450 Hours including externship.
Fast Track Option: Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm (12 weeks)
Part Time Option: Monday-Friday 6:00pm-9:00pm (24 weeks)24 Hours of Certification Prep is included.

Career Opportunities
Medical Assistants perform a variety of clinical tasks including drawing blood, performing electrocardiograms and urinalysis, obtaining vital signs, preparing the patient for the doctor, and charting information in the patient’s medical record. Medical Assistants may also perform clerical office tasks such as making appointments, maintaining medical records, and assisting with insurance payments. Medical Assistants are commonly employed in physician offices, hospitals, and other healthcare settings.
Certification Exam
Graduates of the Medical Assistant program are eligible to obtain national certifications offered by the NHA or NCCT. The cost of the medical assistant certification exam and study guide is included in the cost of tuition. The cost for any additional certifications will be paid by the student.
