LPN Procedures
Prospective students interested in admission will perform the following procedure:
1. Complete the online application and pay the $50.00 application fee (the fee can be paid after the tour). Submit all required documents.
2. Take a tour of the school which will include an opportunity to meet with the admissions staff.
3. Attend a mandatory online information session. You can sign-up under the information tab. This is required for full acceptance into the program.
4. Take and pass the NLN NEX exam. The exam covers: Verbal, Math, and Science. You will be given 3 hours to complete the exam. The cost of this exam is $52.50 and will be paid directly to NLN. More information can be obtained at www.nlntest.org.
5. Once you have achieved a passing score on all sections of the NLN NEX exam, you will be invited for an interview. The admissions committee will interview the applicant to evaluate goals, expectations, applicant’s interest level, program guidelines, educational level, and personal experiences.
6. Your personal essay will be reviewed. The essay must be typed and answer the following questions:
Why I wish to become an LPN?
Why is now a good time to pursue my education?
7. After your admissions interview you will receive written notification of acceptance within 72 hours, via email.
8. After acceptance the student meets with the Business Manager for a finance appointment.
9. An enrollment agreement is completed and signed by both the student and a school representative. The enrollment agreement contains the details of the student’s enrollment including the program of study, start and end dates, tuition and fees, refund policy, and other pertinent information. Consents will be obtained, and the student will pay the background/UDS fee at this time directly to Castle Branch. A separate seat deposit is required within 10 days of being accepted.
10. After enrollment the student must complete and submit a copy of health insurance card, health forms, proof of immunizations, and PPD 3 weeks prior to the start of class. The covid-19 vaccination is not mandatory to attend our school, however some clinical sites may require the flu and/or covid-19 vaccination to attend. Flu allergies will be reviewed on a case by case basis with medical documentation.
11. Submit proof of American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider. The certification must cover the length of the program. The school conducts classes once a month for a fee of $75.00.
