LPN Requirements
Licensed Practical Nurse
Pinnacle School of Nursing considers applicants for admission on the basis of the following criteria:
1. Official High School transcript or GED – Prospective students must sign an attestation stating that they have either a high school diploma or GED (high school equivalency) certificate from an institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and must provide official documentation to the school in support of the attestation.
2. Two letters of recommendation: one professional & one from your employer.
3. Complete an online application and pay the application fee. All applicants who pass the entrance exam and have submitted all required documents, will be invited for an admissions interview.
4. The cost of the NLN Nursing Entrance Exam (NEX) is $52.50. It is proctored at the school. More information can be obtained at www.nlntest.org.
5. Applicants must achieve a passing score on NLN Nursing Entrance Exam. The following areas are tested: Verbal, Math, and Science. Test scores are valid for one year from test date. A passing score in each section, as well as an overall composite score set by the school must be achieved to be considered for acceptance into the program.
6. You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age on or before the first day of class.
7. Two (2) forms of identification (driver’s license, passport, social security card, employee ID, etc.)
8. Provide 2 passport photos.
9. Pay the non-refundable application fee of $50.00 and once formally accepted submit a payment of $145.00 to Castle Branch for the criminal background check, drug screening, and compliance tracker.
10. All prospective students are required to tour the school, and attend a mandatory information session prior to being granted an admissions interview.
11. A $100 non-refundable registration fee will be required upon acceptance.
The entrance exam re-test requirements are as follows:
- After a first attempt, an applicant may re-test after 2 weeks. After the second attempt an applicant must wait a minimum of 90 days to retest.
- You can only test 3 times per year.
Additional Admission Requirements
In addition to the general admission requirements stated above, the following program entrance requirements must also be met:
- Applicants must pass a drug screen.
- Must provide health form, proof of all immunizations, and 2-step PPD, prior to the start of class. The covid-19 vaccination is not mandatory to attend our program, however the flu vaccination and/or covid-19 vaccine may be required to attend certain clinical sites. Medical exemptions are reviewed on a case by case basis. Clinical site acceptance is not guaranteed due to a religious or medical exemption.
- Applicants must successfully pass a criminal background check and urine drug screening.
Upon acceptance a seat deposit of $1100.00 will be required within 10 days.
