Program Purpose & Objective
We believe the practical nurse is an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team. The learning occurs when motivated students are presented with learning activities based on the objectives established in a sound curriculum which meets the requirements of the State of Delaware Board of Nursing. It is a process enhanced by opportunity for realistic practice with ongoing feedback, critique and evaluation. We believe emphasis should be placed on self-evaluation and recognition by the student of the need for continuing education and self-improvement throughout their nursing career. It is important to stress the use of learning activities that will enable the student to grow in the use and application of critical thinking and decision-making skills.
The primary objective of the Practical Nursing Program is to prepare students who are clinically competent, and capable of functioning as a productive member of the health care team. Students who successfully complete this program may petition to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). After passing the examination, graduates will carry the title Licensed Practical Nurse and will qualify to work as an entry-level practitioner.
We at Pinnacle School of Health Careers want to provide students with the opportunity to develop nursing and critical thinking skills, necessary to carry out the functions of the practical nurse in an ever-changing health care environment.
